Data

At the FCC, we are committed to unlocking our agencies data and putting open, machine readable data into the hands of citizen developers and the community. Let us know how we can improve FCC.gov/Data

How can FCC data be more useful to the public?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Perhaps if you could introduce a plugin of set interactive or just videos and audio commentary on whats going on in the community..

Put a plugin on training how to start with basic knowledge for a more versatile audience. I am eager to know the projects currently active, and past projects, and you should open discussion for competitions or something to see who can accomplish higher technology projects. Thank you.

  2. Interference is only policed if intentional.

Am I reading this correctly? I can register as a HAM radio operator and put together a sloppy transmitter and I am not liable for any problems I cause as long as the frequencies I stomp are accidental?

  3. Robocalls are strangling my small business!

I empty my "block caller list" monthly. I have to delete them one at a time which is time consuming, but at least I have a list. There are at least 200 numbers each month. Since I have multiple phone lines there are usually 3 or more calls from each number before I can get them stopped. This means I am interrupted between 20 and 30 times a day. I am seriously considering having a message saying no calls will be answered and allowing only email and Skype. Please, please stop them.

  5. Make it simple

Make filing a comment a simple process that we lay people can understand. I just wanted to say: Reclassify broadband under Title II of the Communications Act of 1934, which would make broadband providers “common carriers.” We need a voice against the big profiteers of communication.
I could not find a way to leave that comment.

  9. Standard internet download upload speed tests allow consumers to post results

Many speed test sites already do this. It may be easier for FCC to add a button "send this data to FCC" - report this speed test data to FCC. ISP's know that speed test buttons are most used functions

  10. WEA Wireless Emergency Alert

Though WEA is a good idea it is not very useful in it's present form. Choice desperately needs to be added. To be useful alert type and times for accepting alerts needs to be added.

Example, I will likely never be out anywhere in the middle of the night to spot a child abductor; though it is possible I could during daylight hours. When I was awoken at 1:00 AM by an Amber alert my only choice was to disable Amber alerts entirely. For this reason myself and millions of others are not participating at in this program that can…

  11. require satellite technicians to remove the ground wire prior to servicing a satellite system

by removing the ground they are saving their own life. I was a technician in a home that was struck by lightning prior to me being there. I was shocked until I was unconscious by a dish network receiver when I placed my right hand on the casing and my left hand grabbed the cable fitting (that was grounded in the basement) resulting in a completion of the circuit. I survived thankfully but, I cannot get help for the injuries I sustained. (or that I was left with) due to the fact of nature. by requiring this, it eliminates the…

  13. Stop Telemarketers from spamming us with their calls daily/hourly

These Telemarketer's Calls coming in are like email spam and we get up to a dozen a day. 90% of the numbers on our caller-id are from telemarketers spamming us with their calls. One Place that calls 3 times a day is the CARD HOLDER's Services and the others are from HOME IMPROVEMENT contractors wanting to fix up your home. I do believe contractors are not supposed to calling and bugging us on a daily/hourly basis.

When the DO-NOT-CALL-LIST came about, I would call the number and report these people for months, and up to a year, but after seeing…

I'm looking for Specific Absorption Rate reports by cellphone manufacturers. On http://www.fcc.gov/guides/specific-absorption-rate-sar-cell-phones-what-it-means-you, it says: "all test reports submitted by the manufacturer are available in full for public inspection on the Commission’s website." Still, no luck trying to find them on your website, even after a few searches. Where can they be found, as stated on your own website? That information is important to the public. Thanks in advance for your time & help.

  16. by eliminating jargon & overloads of information presented about the subject

Often government documents like this make it hard for the general public to understand. They have not been simplified or communicate the message of the topic in a clear and concise manner. Instead they are lucrative and intimidate people from reading or understanding the subject. If it is truly a goal to present this information to the general public then it must be presented in an interesting and easy to access method. Just my two sense...

  17. make GROL statistics easier to access

I tried looking up how many GROL licenses are granted in a year, and how many total had been granted, and was surprised to find that no information seemed to be available. it looks like there might be 150 per year, and the website brought up the names of all the applicants, 10 per page, for 15 pages, so my guesstimate looks correct, but there seems to be no summary total, which would be useful. By contrast, it's easy to find the statistics for amateur radio yearly totals. And it's the same website! So one would think the developer could apply…

  18. Demand Telco release personal CPI back to the original customers

some how during the merge and brake up of the Bell systems I think my identity has been compromised on the internet, phone service has always been there for our family and friends, regardless of technology and its advancement, our investments over the years has paid it way through out it life span, and it should remain that way, The internet should not be used to exploit our personal information, the focus should be on security and protection, not innovation and competition,in light of "The Patriot Act".

  19. I have an idea for Do not call forms

Put checkbox or a line down for an unknown or uncertain response or responses that are neither a definite YES or definite NO answer. It makes it difficult to answer online. The form you send in, yes , you could write it on the paper, but without a line to write it on, it looks untidy and might be missed by the person reading the form.

  20. Provide a way to file complaints about uncertified equipment

There are a number of types of complaints which people can file on the FCC web site. However, one that is missing (and is becoming a bigger problem every day) is marketing and use of non-certified equipment. There are a large number of companies (mostly foreign) advertising radios, WiFi access points and other non-certified equipment. Such equipment often times emits spurious signals, emits too much power or has other reasons it wouldn't pass FCC certification. This often causes interference with other users and/or services. And of course there are the illegal jammers readily available.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no…
