    • Consider SpeedOf.Me as a reliable and trustworthy speed test service

SpeedOf.Me is a pure html5 speed test site. No flash No Java required. It works on all mobile devices too.

Since it tests your internet connection directly from your browser (not through flash/ java plugins), it can be considered as a reliable and accurate speed test service.

        • NET NEUTRALITY - make it happen

where do we go to start screaming at the federal government and our lawmakers about net neutrality?

          Who do we pay off?

Who do we vote into office?

          • Force ISP's to guarantee Speeds and regulate how it is measured

Please stop them from continuing that awful practice of making people pay for a service that you might get or might not get. Force them to provide reliable connection speeds and regulate how it is measured or they're going to ***** the public over on that end. And please don't listen to the TimeWarner's or Comcast's when they send in the lobbyists to tell you about what they can do and what they can't do. They suck the money out of people's pockets and do not provide what they are contracted to provide hiding behind unclear statements or definitions. Please…

            • Your test isn't accurate for those of us with download speeds greater than 99 mbps. So neither are your maps.

My download speed is greater than 100 mbps (116 mbps according to Speedof.me), but your counter can only record a maximum of 99,999 kbps download speed so its reading is inaccurate. If you're relying on that to determine what broadband speeds are available around the USA, you're going to be in error. Add at least one more digit to your counter so you can get speeds up to 999,999 kbps, which should hold us for a while.

              • Engage YouTube, Hulu, NetFlix, etc in your tests.

If you could embed some javascript to test speeds on sites like YouTube, Hulu and NetFlix, you could probably get a better idea of the anti-competitive practices perpetrated by ISPs. When I visit any speed test site, I get well over 10Mbps speeds -- frequently in the range of 15Mbps. However, it's taken me 10 minutes to watch a 51 second video on YouTube that's not even 720i quality. Hulu and NetFlix are all but unusable at times when speedtest.net, performance.toast.net, and your site all report a solid connection. What's more, the video I was watching from YouTube was linked…

                • The broadband availability maps are not nearly detailed enough.

I work in rural Alaska deploying electronic health records (mostly tribal clinics). The internet is very slow out there. Our wide-area network, used for health data exchange, is slow because we don't have the luxury of landlines. We are often dependent on satellite-based connectivity. Internet, for such things as research on medical conditions, and within the formal patient care setting, for retrieving patient education reference material, is slower still in most settings in our environment. We need better connectivity. And we need the FCC's continuing support in order to provide healthcare service. So we need better data showing the needs…

                  • FIX THE TESTS They are not working and give "LICENSE EXPIRED" messages instead

Provide two way communications. Example: We cannot tell you tests are broken. Seems to be one way communications. FCC Communications are best when BILATERAL

                    • Chapter 6 Infrastructure Recommendation 6.2.

This is the best idea I have heard of. This would incourage the private sector to build out more broadband, without cutting jobs. Dig once would cut out jobs. This pole attachment and make ready process is very costly. In towns where there is only one service provider for broadband this pole attatchment problem is huge. I think that regulations like this that promote competition without cutting jobs is the best way to help facilitate growth in the broadband market. I also agree with streamlining the permit process for federal controlled property. I do not agree with dig once because…

                      • Create Gov service in places commercial Co. refuse to serve

I am surrounded by cable service yet Comcast refuses to put cable on my street. They are under contract here but they tell me it will cost them too much to put cable here. This is a 58 Billion $ company. I hardly think it would cause them financial difficulty. We need a program like TVA for internet. If the commercial companies don't want to service my area the government should step in.

                                • The Plan Lacks Critical Component

For many American's choices are at the heart of our freedoms. Much of what Government is suppose to do is ensure that in a capitalist economy, we the people, continue to have choices and are not forced into a situation where we are not victims to a monopoly or unfair business practices or that we are taken advantage of. Back in 1956, Eisenhower saw the need that in order to take these 50 States and connect them in a way that allowed for easier commerce across state-lines, an interstate highway system had to be built. So in 1956 with the…

                                  • Residential and business broadband, in developed areas, should be wired; wireless uses scarce frequencies unnecessarily.

Many wired broadband customers have a single ISP provider with no competitive alternatives. These ISP providers are operating a de facto monopoly but are unregulated. For areas with no real competition, bring back regulated services with published service levels and defined rates of return. All value added services, such as VOIP or video, should be from an arms-length subsidiary, with open access to any other providers.

                                    • Please bring broadband to Harmony Grove Escondido Ca

We are 5 minutes from HomeDepot and a huge city. We are in a valley and there is no service and we will pay. Someone will have to "force" AT&T or Cox to run the **** lines. I realize that its $10/foot but over the first year all of our cable and internet bills would easily cover that.

                                        • The broadband test page does not work.

The test worked before the government shutdown. Now, it does not work.
